Syllabus: | An introduction to the nature and classification of primary and secondary structures in rocks and the deformational processes that cause them. Projection methods for analysing and interpreting three-dimensional geological structures. The principal ore minerals and their identification. The mineralogy, morphology and origin of the major types of mineral deposit, industrial minerals, coal, petroleum and natural gas. Mineral exploration including geochemical and geophysical exploration, groundwater and an introduction to mining geology. |
