Syllabus: | This unit enables design students to learn the fundamental science, theory, application and practice of metal and structural technologies as they are applied in the disciplines of product, object and furniture design. Well established and developing technologies are studied through the examination of; iconic designs, the work of leading designers and common practice. Selected materials are applied to a 'human factor' or 'user focused' design project activity. The communication of design ideas is refined through computer based studio sessions and tuition to reinforce a student's knowledge and judgment of CAD and solid modelling software, appropriate to design industry practice. |
