Syllabus: This unit discusses population growth and regulation. Topics covered include the study of life histories of exploited species, stock recruitment relationships, environmental influences on the recruitment within a fish stock, influence of population dynamics on genetic parameters, natural changes to populations, human interference in population change, impacts of competition (predatory-prey relationships) on community structure, and sustainability of populations.
