Syllabus: | Baseband digital transmission: pulse-code modulation (PCM), Nyquist criterion and intersymbol interference, eye patterns, line coding, synchronisation and clock recovery, probability of error, duobinary signalling, optimum receiver design, and waveform equalisation. Introduction to error correcting coding. Spread spectrum modulation: direct sequence, frequency hopping and synchronisation. |
