Syllabus: What is meant by 'client'. Evolution of models of health (medical, holistic, wellness, client-centred). Concept of partnership with client (versus paternalism, ie. not in charge). Holistic Health assessment (physical, psychological, social, etc.). Risk factors, promotive and preventative health, client health education. Clinical Reasoning. Informed consent. Determinants of nursing practice. Factors influencing decision making in nursing practice. Ethics of resources, human rights. Interpersonal skills when interviewing of clients. Therapeutic boundaries, self awareness and professional behaviour.
