Syllabus: | Fundamentals of physiology and biochemistry of aquatic animals. Structure and functions of proteins, lipids, carbohydrates and nucleic acids. Enzymes. Major biochemical pathways. Biochemical energetics. Chemistry of body fluids. Major physiological processes in aquatic species: respiration and circulation, osmoregulation, digestion, endocrinology, immunity, and nervous system. Comparisons between land and aquatic animals where relevant. |
