Introduction

This specialised research degree is designed to develop expertise in public relations through detailed research, evaluation and analysis.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

A postgraduate diploma in public relations. Candidates with postgraduate degrees in other disciplines may be required to undertake and satisfactorily complete the Graduate Diploma in Public Relations before enrolling in this research course.

Duration and Availability

The course is by research and normally requires one to two years full-time or equivalent part-time study.

Course Organisation

This course is studied as a research degree. The content of the degree should be determined in consultation with the postgraduate coordinator, School of Marketing. Students without prior studies in research methods and statistical data analysis will be required to undertake relevant preparatory units. This will increase the stated duration of the course.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.

Special Note

It is a requirement that two-thirds of this course is undertaken by research and only one-third by coursework. Students should not enrol in this research course to receive the Postgraduate Diploma in Business (Public Relations) but rather have undertakenit as a requisite for admission. Curtin Business School provides facilities and benefits for those studying this course by research, including access to suitable computer facilities, office space, financial assistance to attend appropriate intra or interstate conferences and towards associated research costs.
