This course enhances professional career development, preparing nurses for advanced clinical practice with individuals, families, groups and communities. Nursing theory and research as well as professional role development are an integral part of the course, which is focused on the development of the multiple roles of the clinical expert through studies in specialist and advanced practice role development. Fundamental to this course is the development of leadership, critical thinking and clinical decision making capacity, preparing health professionals for a leadership role at an executive level. The Domiciliary Nursing stream prepares registered nurses for a leadership role in domiciliary nursing and focuses on professional accountability and the development of competency at an advanced level in assessment and clinical judgement skills.
Requirement to be currently registered nurses, or eligible for registration as a registered nurse with the Singapore Nurses Board, with a bachelor degree in nursing and with a minimum of one year post-registration clinical experience.. Evidence of successful completion of appropriate research units is an additional course prerequisite. Selection is based on academic performance, clinical experience, professional references and an interview.
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.
This fee-paying course is of three semesters full-time duration or equivalent part-time.
A student who has successfully completed the requirements of an approved intermediate award may apply for graduation in that award subject to approval of Head of School/Department. Fees apply. Intermediate award(s) approved for this course are:
Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing. Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing (Domiciliary Stream) , Graduate Certificate in Nursing (Domiciliary Stream);
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.
