Syllabus: | An exploration of the diverse historical and contemporary roles that pattern has played in Textiles and other disciplines. Individually and collaboratively students will investigate traditional and contemporary serial structures, with a focus on their semantic potential to inform practical and creative applications of pattern. The focus is on contemporary interpretations of the ornamental and embellishment, as applied to contemporary art practice. Outcomes may include such forms as: installation, work for the body, textile portfolio, object based work, architectural interventions, work for interior architecture, furnishing or performance based work. |
