Syllabus: | This unit demonstrates principles of occupational hygiene and ergonomic hazard identification, and assessment through the application of practical techniques of workplace measurement. Exposure evaluation techniques: occupational hygiene hazards (hazardous substances, noise, vibration, illumination, thermal stress and ventilation). Ergonomic stressors: physical ergonomics (anthropometrics, workstation design, muscle physiology, respiratory function) and cognitive ergonomics (information processing, mentalworkload, circadian variation and organisational stressors). |
