Introduction

As issues such a climate change, renewable energy and the global food shortage are bought to our attention, and the attention of governments' world wide, the need for skilled graduates to solve these complex issues is vital. Agribusiness is the term given to systems and activities involved in the production, processing, marketing and distribution of food and fibre products. Students who undertake an agribusiness major are benefiting from not only gaining a qualification that offers a comprehensive understanding of agriculture and its operation also a degree with a key emphasis on the business environment.

Professional Recognition

Graduates are eligible for membership of the Australian Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology (AIAST), and accreditation with the National Agricultural Commodity Marketing Association.

Career Opportunites

Graduates are highly sought after and gain employment in marketing and management roles in agribusiness organisations such as: marketing organisations, exporters, rural media, financial institutions, government departments, industry development groups, agripolitics, community engagement and extension, agricultural consultancies and other farm input suppliers of agricultural merchandise, fertiliser, seed, machinery and livestock.

Special Note

Students must complete a period of 10 weeks industry professional practice. Industry professional practice is a requirement of graduation.
