Syllabus: Selected topics in communications from the fields of information theory and coding; vector communication systems; error detection and error correcting codes, linear and convolution codes, Viterbi decoding; advanced modulation techniques, generalised theory of modulation; communication network design; network traffic characterisation and management; switching theory ; ATM networking; optical communications, devices and networks.
