Prerequisite(s): 7577 (v.8) Building Technology 102/122 or any previous version
Syllabus: Focuses on two introductory modules concerned with the design of small-scale masonry buildings. Construction and Materials - includes properties and application of masonry components, internal building materials and related construction systems, embodied energy of construction and basic window and door framing (module one - one hour lecture and one hour tutorial per week). Students undertake project-based exercises and undertake related field trips. Theory of Structures - concerns basic theory of related masonry construction (module two - two hour lecture per week).
