Lecture: 1 x 1.5 Hours Weekly
Tutorial: 1 x 1.5 Hours Weekly
Syllabus: During the first half of the unit, students explore various mind-body approaches to counselling and consider how contemporary mindfulness practices and an attention to spiritualities in people's lives can contribute to life enhancing counselling outcomes. Connections are made between people's experiences of their physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual selves and how these multiple selves might be encountered within the therapeutic relationship. Extending on these explorations, in the second half of the unit, students experientially engage with a range of practices to assist them to become aware of how their personal histories shape effective counselling. For two days, a confidential group is facilitated by a skilled professional practitioner.
