Syllabus: The aim of this unit is to introduce the intellectual and procedural methods inherent in the design process, to enable effective investigation, experimentation and discovery, thereby creating a predisposition towards innovation in preference to predetermined assumptions, formula or convention when undertaking design briefs. As a core study unit for two-dimensional design for second year it covers the design process of research, idea generation, development and implementation. Students are required to pass this unit before they can proceed with their studies in the following streams; Graphic Design, Illustration, Advertising or Photography.
