Syllabus: An introduction to the major movements in fashion in the 20th century and to the relationship between fashion and art during that century. Surveys such style changes as surrealism, expressionism, pop and punk in describing the nexus between art and the designers of high fashion. Students are introduced to the major fashion designers of the 20th century and their ideas and practices.
