Syllabus: | A critical analysis of Australian law governing publication, especially in the field of journalism. Includes the law of defamation, confidentiality, privacy, freedom of information, censorship, contempt of court, court reporting, and copyright. An examination of print and broadcast regulatory institutions. Special attention is given to law reform issues. Completion of the unit enables students to identify and exploit the limits of free speech. |
