Syllabus: Provides an overview of the competing philosophies of social policy and their implications for the scope and role of government in society. Explores questions of social structure and power as well as central concepts such as justice, liberty, equality, solidarity, citizenship and community. Focus will be on developing a critical awareness of major policy perspectives and the analytical tools for understanding social policy issues.
