The aim of this unit is to introduce the intellectual and procedural methods inherent in the design process, to enable effective investigation, experimentation and discovery, thereby creating a predisposition towards innovation in preference to predetermined assumptions, formula or convention when undertaking design briefs. As a core study unit for two-dimensional design for second year it covers the design process of research, idea generation, development and implementation.
