Syllabus: |
Evolution and evolutionary mechanisms in palaeontology. Distribution of important invertebrate fossils in space and time. Micropalaeontology and its application in sedimentology and stratigraphy. Introductory paleoecology and geological interpretation. Principles, nomenclature and procedures in stratigraphy. Lithostratigraphy, biostratigraphy and chronostratigraphy. Correlations, facies and stratigraphic maps. Introduction to seismic and sequence stratigraphy. Geology, stratigraphy and depositional sequence of selected basins. |
