Provides health professionals with a broad and sound foundation in biological and behavioural sciences, the principles of teaching and learning and best practice management of diabetes. Graduates will have the capacity to advance diabetes education and guide clinical practice.
A relevant bachelor degree or equivalent from a recognised instituition. An alternative mode of entry is available for health professionals without a degree but with substantiative work experience.

Recognition of prior learning and/or exemptions may be granted to students who have successfully completed additional approved tertiary studies and related work experience. Each application will be considered individually.
This fee paying course is one semester full-time or equivalent part-time study. It is available by external study only.
Students are required to participate in clinical practice (two x 10 days).
This course has Australian Diabetes Educators Association (ADEA) accreditation, 2003 - 2007. Graduates will be able to use this course as part-evidence to support an application for registration with ADEA.
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.
Students are required to have and maintain a reliable internet access and pay for the cost of obtaining and using internet access as part of their studies.
