This course is designed to prepare mature-age Australians and permanent residents to undertake undergraduate study. Successful completion will guarantee matriculation into Curtin but not into any particular course.
Designed for mature-age students who are at least 20 years of age. Applicants must have satisfactorily completed year 10, or the Certificate II in General Education for Adults, or equivalent if they wish to study in the face-to-face mode. This course isnot suitable for school leavers.
Flexible delivery is also available for some units, but applicants must have completed a minimum of year 12 to be eligible for this mode of study. An entrance test may be administered. At application, students are required to consult with the coordinator to determine eligibility and a career pathway.
Those between the ages of 18 and 20 will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Mature-age students will be given preference. Upon successful completion of the course, those who wish to continue on to degree level studies must apply directly to the relevant school or area.
This course is one year full-time study, or equivalent part-time study and will be delivered subject to sufficient numbers. Some units may be available on a flexible basis.
Students select either the Science or the Humanities stream, depending on background and future career pathways.
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.
