Syllabus: |
Introduction to pathology and the role of certain disciplines in the diagnosis of disease. Pathology - disease characteristics, classification, causes, manifestations, diagnosis and treatment, Cellular injury and inflammation. Haematology - components of blood, haemoglobin structure and function, platelets and reticulocytes, cell counting, Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate, Red Blood Cells, indices, blood film examination. Clinical Biochemistry - amino acids, proteins, enzymes, carbohydrates, lipids, water, electrolytes and mineral metabolism. Histotechnology - fixation, processing, microtomy and staining. |
