Syllabus: |
Participating in scholarly and professional conferences or seminars and contributing to scholarly and professional journals. Selection of a topic within a relevant field, conduct appropriate research, and prepare an abstract for the peer-review process of a conference committee and/or that of an editorial committee. Students then develop and workshop the paper in two fashions - for delivery at a conference and for submission to a journal, preparing the appropriate audio-visual and supporting material for the one form and learning the appropriate citation, formatting and bibliographic skills for the other. Students are guided in these prepartion by their supervisors and their peers and lecturers in the unit. On presentation of the paper at a conference or seminar, external or internal, and/or publication of the paper, students submit a report analysing current industry, scholarly and professional trends as revealed at the conference and/or through the process of journal submission. |
