307021 v.1 Applied Accounting Technology MajorIntroductionThis major focuses upon accounting and its relationship with technology. Specifically examining accounting computer packages, it explores the issues and opportunities created by the expansion of e-commerce, examines the methods of auditing accounting technologies and addresses additional challenges that the electronic age poses for the accounting profession. In concentrating on accounting and related topics, this degree will be beneficial to applicants who are seeking a more practically oriented degree, specifically applicants who hold relevant work experience and who do not require CPA or ICA accreditation to gain or continue an accounting career. This course is not accredited by either of the professional accounting bodies in Australia, however additional units may be undertaken to attain accreditation if desired. There are no electives/optional units in this degree. Professional RecognitionSubject to approval by the University, the Indonesian Institute of Accountants has confirmed that they will fully accredit this degree. The National Institute of Accountants (NIA), an Australian accounting body, have also reviewed the proposed degree and have indicated their willingness to recognise it for the purposes of attaining NIA accreditation. Additional units may be undertaken upon completion of the degree to qualify for membership of CPA Australia and the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
