302493 v.2 Master of PodiatryMPod(Curtin) This course is not available to International Onshore Students on Student Visas IntroductionThis course is designed to produce podiatrists who have improved diagnostic skills, are sensitive to the needs of consumers of podiatric services and have the capacity to develop the profession through research and evidence based practice. Course Entry Requirements/PrerequisitesA bachelor degree or equivalent, in Podiatry or Chiropody from a recognised tertiary institution, an academic record with a semester weighted average (SWA) of 70 per cent or better together with a minimum of one year of relevant work experience. Applications from Podiatrists currently holding a Graduate Certificate in Podiatry from Curtin will also be considered. Places are restricted with selection made on the basis of academic record, experience and demonstrated commitment to continuing education. Recognition of Prior LearningApplications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis. Duration and AvailabilityNot all units are offered each year so only part time distance education mode is available with students taking up to six years to complete. Intermediate AwardsA student who has successfully completed all the requirements of the Graduate Certificate in Podiatry or the Postgraduate Diploma in Podiatry may apply under exceptional circumstance provisions for graduation in that award subject to approval of the Head of School. Course OrganisationThe course is taught within standard semesters except that students are required to work on their research projects during the non-contact weeks and during the inter-semester break. Professional RecognitionThe course is recognised by the Podiatry Board of Australia as an academic qualification. The program is recommended as the pre-requisite for fellowship of the Australian College of Surgical Podiatrists.
