Introduction
This is a research-based higher degree that develops research skills and advances knowledge in the chosen field of study. Study at this advanced level requires the student to be an autonomous, independent learner.
Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
Applicants must have either - A) Graduated with or qualified for the award of Bachelor with First Class or Second Class Honours within the University. B) Graduated with or qualified for the award of Postgraduate Diploma within the University. C) Graduated with or qualified for the award of the degree of Bachelor within the University, with a superior performance, together with relevant and substantial work experience. D) Obtained qualifications from another institution which are recognised by tertiary admission authorities in Australia and which are deemed to be equivalent to, or a satisfactory substitute for, any of the qualifications prescribed in A, B or C as above.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Applicants with a postgraduate diploma, relevant honours degree, or equivalent qualifications and experience may be eligible for direct entry into the second year of the program.
Duration and Availability
This research course is two years full-time or equivalent part-time study. Applicants with a postgraduate diploma, relevant honours degree, or equivalent qualifications and experience may be eligible for direct entry to the second year of the course.
Course Organisation
Research can be undertaken in five identified areas - activity participation and inclusive communities, enhancing capacities in children and families, healthy ageing and aged care, occupational health and technology and finally, tertiary education. Other areas of particular interest to applicants may also be examined. Supervision is available from academic staff within the School and the University. For some students, external supervisors with relevant expertise may be selected as Associate Supervisors.

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials.
Special Note
It is a requirement that two-thirds of this course is undertaken by research and only one-third by coursework. Students interested in studying higher levels of coursework should consult the Master of Clinical Science section of the handbook.
