State and society in Buddhist Southeast Asia. This unit aims to develop an understanding of Theravadin Buddhist societies in mainland Southeast Asia - mainly Thailand. Interrelationship between state, monarchy and religion. The practical and totalising implications of religious ideology, historical processes and everyday categories of thought and action.
