An introduction to a variety of editorial illustration briefs. Editorial illustration involves designing illustrations for newspapers, magazines, flyers, annual reports and book jackets. The study of texts at different levels taking into account different perspectives on issues. Emphasis is placed on understanding conceptual frameworks on which to base idea generation. The intention is to provide experience within this area for the student's future reference as a professional illustrator. The narrative structure of illustration and basic visual communication principles will be researched within an international context. The opportunity is given to follow the curriculum, involving an inquiry into conceptually answering a series of industry related briefs,or designing individual relevant project briefs with approval from the lecturer.
