Concrete - cements and aggregates, grading of aggregates. Concrete quality control, strength and workability. Placing and curing concrete. Concrete mix design. Timber - structural properties of timber, defects, insect attack, seasoning, preservation. Gluelaminated timbers, plywoods, connectors. Steel - properties of different types of steels including stress strain curves, definition of yield and ultimate stresses. Influence of different alloys.
