This research based higher degree develops research skills and advance knowledge in the discipline.
Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
A suitable four year degree with first or second class honours, or a suitable three year degree with a minimum of three years practical experience. Applicants without an honours degree are required to undertake a research methods unit. Applicants with honours degrees in comparable fields, such as engineering, planning, architecture, social sciences, will be considered. Applicants from disciplines other than construction may be required to undertake relevant preparatory units prior to submission of candidacy.
Duration and Availability
The course is by research and normally requires one to two years of full-time study. The course is also available in part-time mode.
Course Organisation
This course is studied as a research degree. The content of the degree should be determined in consultation with the Postgraduate Coordinator, School of Architecture, Construction and Planning. Students without prior studies in research methods and statistical data analysis will be required to undertake relevant preparatory units. This will increase the stated course duration.
Additional Course Expenses
A suitable first degree of three years duration without an award with distinction, are usually required to have a minimum of three years practical experience before being considered for admission.
Special Note
It is a requirement that two-thirds of this course is undertaken by research and only one-third by coursework. Students should not enrol in this research degree to receive a related Postgraduate Diploma but rather have undertaken it as a requisite for admission.
