Introduction
This course provides graduates with the theoretical and technical skills necessary to work in economic related areas in both the private and public sectors. It provides a sound basis for graduate students seeking employment in commercial or economic policy related areas, and enables professionals currently employed in the field to further develop their skills.
Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
Any undergraduate degree with a non economic major. Under certain circumstances students with an economics background may be allowed to enter the course, with the approval of the Head of School. Depending on their previous field of study students may be required to complete one or more foundation units before commencing the first stage.
Specific Requirements
Candidates without sufficient background may be required to complete one or more of the following foundation units before commencing the first stage - Economics Analysis and Asian Economics 550, Legal Environment 560, Financial Management 550, Information for Business Decisions 550.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis. Waivers from specific units may be approved, with students required to select further units from the available list or from other units with the approval of the Head of School.
Duration and Availability
This fee paying course is of three semesters full-time or equivalent part-time study. Students should note that most classes are scheduled in the late afternoon or evening. If required to undertake foundation units the duration of the course may be increased.
Professional Recognition
Graduates are eligible for Associate Professional Membership of the Economic Society of Australia (Western Australia).
Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
