| Syllabus: | In this unit students will trace the historical and political development of quality and safety in health care. Students will analyse key components of effective quality and safety programs, risk management and clinical governance and the impact of organisation related factors. Influences on quality and safety related to leadership and management in health care systems will be explored. Utilising a Practical approach tools, techniques and methods will be identified to measure and improve quality and safety. The unit will examine the role of human factors in human error and determine what impact this has on safety and quality in health care organisations. Students will gain an understanding of the role of consumers’ contribution to quality and safety outcomes. |
