| Syllabus: | Students are introduced to physical, mental state and risk assessment data collection, documentation and interpretation of data using a functional health approach. Students explore focussed assessment and therapeutic interventions relating to the support of the stable person. Students are required to apply therapeutic communication and meet nursing competency standards in selected clinical contexts. Students apply principles and practices of primary health care as part of the nursing process. Australian and International health data informs the review and evaluation of contemporary health issues and determination of strategies for promotion of wellness across the lifespan in individual, family, and community contexts. Screening for disease risk. Wound care and fluid management are introduced as part of this unit of study. Principles of education of people and educational resource development form part of student learning in the unit. Students will provide best-practice nursing care to support patient self-care/well-being across the lifespan. Medication preparation, administration and recording, dosage calculations, legislative control and applied pharmacology in the context of the stable person will be reinforced. |
