| Syllabus: | Factors influencing individual and family responses to acute illness. Students develop an understanding of sociocultural factors influencing social support and structure and function of the family. Coping strategies adopted by individuals, families and carers in dealing with the critically unstable patient. Communication strategies and interventions applied by paramedics or nurses to aid adaptive responses to illness. Inter-professional and intra-professional communication and practice. |
