| Syllabus: | This unit introduces a wide range of techniques and approaches to critical thinking derived from various modes of professional photographic practice. These modes are broadly categorised as commercial, documentary and fine-art photography. The unit is designed to allow for a flexible approach that reflects the hybrid nature of contemporary photographic practice. Students will investigate historic and contemporary aspects of visual culture to inform their own creative work and incorporate experimental analogue and digital processes to complement existing professional applications of photographic technology. These aims are facilitated through dedicated seminars, workshops and production sessions throughout the semester. |
