| Syllabus: | Introduction to Astronomy offers an introduction to the study of the Universe. We explain scientific method and how it has been applied to determine the structure and composition of celestial objects. The tools of modern astronomy are introduced (with an emphasis on optical telescopes). The unit also looks at star clusters and galaxies, leading into discussion of the evolution of stars and the Universe as a whole. |
