| Syllabus: | This unit introduces students to fundamental concepts of data and business analytics in the accounting context. On completion of this unit, students will be able to understand the concept of big data, data mining and data visualisation. Students will examine various topics in business analytics such as descriptive summary measures, probability, probability distributions, sampling and sampling distribution with reference to accounting knowledge. Students will also investigate the topics of estimation and hypothesis testing for a single and two accounting populations. Additional techniques of business analytics such as analysis of variance (ANOVA) and chi-square tests are also introduced in the unit. Students will analyse the relationship among accounting variables with linear regression techniques. |
