Syllabus: | Welfare economics theory is introduced. Measuring health, quality adjusted life years (QALYs), willingness to pay and the valuation of human life are analysed. Cost effectiveness analysis, cost utility analysis and cost benefit analysis are examined. Distributional concerns in using these techniques are addressed. Examples of economic evaluation in practice are presented. |
