Syllabus: | Concept of mental health: holistic health revisited, linkages of all health aspects to mental health. Self-mental health: rationale to monitor and strategies to maintain or promote mental health. Contributors to mental health: childhood theories, role modelling, and peer pressure and environment. Maintenance of mental health: social interaction, work and leisure activities. Mental health assessment: skills to determine the health status of family members. Role of mental health worker: duty of care, accountability, ethics and law in a primary health care context. Strategies to assist families to take responsibility for their own health. |
