Syllabus: Air-conditioning (AC) system types and applications, moist air properties, air-conditioning processes from thermodynamic fundamentals and from psychrometric charts. Design and off-design operation. Evaporative cooling. Indoor air quality: comfort and health. Heat gains, solar radiation and heat flow through structures. Heat storage. System design. Space air diffusion. Duct design by various methods. Use of AC design software.
