Syllabus: Medical surgical nursing care. Airway management and care of the unconscious patient. Medical/surgical asepsis. Fluid, wound, pressure care, pain, and continence management. Documentation and evaluation of care. Health mathematics. Administration of medications: intramuscular (IM), subcutaneous (SC) and intravenous (IV). Introduction to perioperative care. Clinical skills relating to major alterations in health status: intracostal catheter (ICC), electrocardiogram (ECG), and neurological conditions.
