BA(Curtin)

This course is not available to International Onshore Students on Student Visas

Introduction

This course is designed for students located at the country campuses of Curtin to select from a range of available units within the humanities disciplines. It is suitable for students seeking a broad-based undergraduate degree with the potential for specialisation at postgraduate level. Courses of study will be constructed around each student's individual interests, drawing from the units available to the student within the nominated study location.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

None.

Specific Requirements

STAT elements considered are E and either V or Q.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

The course is three years full-time or equivalent part-time study. It is expected that a substantial component of the course will consist of external study.

Course Organisation

The course structure combines a variety of available units relevant to a wide range of employment opportunities and to further study. The course is made up of options to maximise flexibility and units may be selected from within other courses available at Curtin provided they are available through distance education, online or are considered to be project-based units (third-year level). Units offered through Open Universities Australia may also be selected and opportunities for cross-institutional enrolment will also be considered. A minimum of eight units at second year level and a minimum of five units at third year level must be completed in this course.

Career Opportunities

The multidisciplinary nature of a Bachelor of Arts provides broad analytical training instead of specialisation in any one area, thus maximising the career paths that can be followed. It is expected that many graduates will undertake postgraduate study in order to specialise.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.
