This is a specialised research program designed to suit the various objectives of students who wish to advance their knowledge in selected areas of the accounting discipline.
A Postgraduate Diploma in Business (Accounting), with a course weighted average of 75 per cent, or an honours degree in accounting (first or upper second class).
The course is by research and normally requires one to two years of full-time or equivalent part-time study.
This course is studied as a research degree. The content of the degree should be determined in consultation with the postgraduate coordinator, School of Accounting. Students without prior studies in research methods and statistical data analysis will be required to undertake relevant preparatory units. This will increase the stated course duration.
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.
It is a requirement that two thirds of this course is undertaken by research and only one third by coursework. Students should not enrol in this research course to receive the Postgraduate Diploma in Business (Accounting) but rather have undertaken it as a requisite for admission. Curtin Business School has facilities and benefits for those studying this course by research, including access to suitable computer facilities, office space, financial assistance to attend appropriate intra or interstate conferences and towards associated research costs.
