Syllabus: This unit will not be available until 2007 and involves the use of the fundamental concepts and principles of process synthesis and design introduced in ChE 312 coupled with the learning and use of the flowsheet simulator ASPEN Plus for process design. The contents will include deeper flowsheet analysis; selection of thermodynamic property package and thermodynamic analysis of chemical plant; synthesis of separation trains; separation operations modelling using ASPEN Plus; advanced reactor modelling; pinch technology; optimisation of process flow diagram; dynamic simulation principles and chemical plant controllability analysis; application of knowledge in a design project.

** To ensure that the most up-to-date information about unit references, texts and outcomes appears, they will be provided in your unit outline prior to commencement. **
