It provides dual qualifications in these areas and provides graduates with unique opportunities to obtain employment in resource development and related fields involving natural resource management. The Bachelor of Commerce places an emphasis on decision-making, trends in technology and associated work patterns and other aspects of management in a highly competitive business arena. The programs emphasise both theoretical concepts and the application of knowledge to commerce and industry. The legal studies major provides students with knowledge and skills relevant to working in business or government in a para-legal capacity. These skills are closely linked to issues relating to legislation dealing with mining and petroleum tenaments and are therefore a vital part of resource exploration and development. Course OrganisationStudents enrolled in the double degree program may elect to transfer to a single degree course in one of the two disciplines. In this event, the relevant Head of School/Department shall determine the amount of credit to be transferred to the single degree. Professional RecognitionGraduates of the undergraduate degree in Applied Geology are eligible for membership of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists, the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and the Geological Society of Australia.
