It equips students with the technical competencies and analytical skills to find employment in a variety of business, research, government and educational contexts involving analysis, modelling and management of spatial information. Course Entry Requirements/PrerequisitesApplicable Mathematics. Alternative mathematics units are available for applicants who have completed Discrete Mathematics. Specific RequirementsSTAT elements considered are E and either V or Q. Recognition of Prior LearningApplications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis. Duration and AvailabilityThe course is four years full time study and may be undertaken on either a full-time or a part-time basis. Course OrganisationStudents undertake both the Geography major and the Geographic Information Science major. Students enrolled in the double degree program may elect to transfer to a single degree course in one of the two areas. In this event, the relevant Head of School shall determine the amount of credit to be transferred to the single degree. Professional RecognitionThe undergraduate degree in Geographic Information Science has received level one accreditation by the Australian Computer Society (ACS). Graduates are immediately eligible for associate membership with full membership following four years of professional practice. Graduates may also obtain membership of the Spatial Sciences Institute (SSI).
