Introduction

This course is designed to provide students with competence in an Asian Language (Chinese, Indonesian, Japanese or Korean), training in the sociolinguistic knowledge necessary for interaction with speakers from diverse cultural backgrounds, and knowledgeabout business systems in the Asian region. It is designed for beginners with no prior study of the language. Those with some prior study are assigned to a class of appropriate level.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

A degree in an appropriate discipline or equivalent.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

As the two language units must be taken consecutively, the course cannot be completed in one semester of full-time study. This fee paying course is of two semesters part-time duration.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials.
