Introduction
This course provides engineers or similarly qualified professionals in the mining industry with advanced knowledge, skills and techniques in risk management, system safety and occupational health and safety management.
Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
A four-year bachelor degree or equivalent, such as a Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Science in physical/environmental sciences. A minimum of two years relevant experience in the mining industry is required.
Specific Requirements
Students may be required to attend on-campus sessions at Kalgoorlie and at Bentley of up to two weeks per semester. Applicants for this course should refer to the Communicable Diseases and Criminal Record Screening/Clearance Section of this publication.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.
Duration and Availability
This fee-paying course is three semesters full-time or equivalent part-time external study.
Intermediate Awards I
A student who has successfully completed the requirements of an approved intermediate award, may apply for graduation in that award subject to approval of the Head of School/Department. Fees apply. Intermediate awards approved for this course appear below.

Professional Recognition
Recognition is currently being sought from the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.
Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, expenses are associated with attendance at on-campus sessions at Bentley and in Kalgoorlie.
