This course is not available to International Onshore Students on Student Visas

Introduction

The program is a collaboration between the cytogenetics profession and the University. It will emphasise laboratory skills as well as theoretical knowledge. Cytogenetics impinges on many other areas - haematology, cytology, histopathy, psychology, nursing, and medicine.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

A Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in a relevant area and current employment in a Cytogenetics laboratory.

Duration and Availability

This fee paying course is only available on a part-time basis over three years. All students who enrol in this course must be employed in a Cytogenetics laboratory.

Intermediate Awards I

A student who has successfully completed the requirements of an approved intermediate award, may apply for graduation in that award subject to approval of the Head of School/Department. Fees apply. Intermediate awards approved for this course appear below.

Course Organisation

The course is designed in modular form. It is equivalent to the three semester Masters programs, but because of the emphasis on laboratory acquired knowledge and skills, it will be conducted on a part-time basis over a three year period. There are a total of ten units - some are compulsory and several optional.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials.
